What is a microschool?

"Microschool" means a school initiated by one or more teachers or an entity created to operate a school that charges tuition for the students who enroll and is an alternative to enrolling in a public school, private school, homeschool, or learning pod. Senate Bill 268, 2022

Are there scholarships available?

Yes, parents or guardians of prospective students can apply for the West Virginia Hope Scholarship.  If awarded, Hope funds can be applied towards the cost of attending Horizons Academy.

Do you provide special education services?

The education at Horizons Academy is highly personalized and designed with your child's strengths and weaknesses in mind. However, we do not offer special education services at this time. 

Do you provide transportation?

No, parents or guardians are responsible for transportation to and from school.


Do you provide meals?

No, food service is not offered at this time.

What do you do about snow days?

At this time, we will follow the Preston County Schools inclement weather schedule including snow days, 2-hour delays, and weather-related early dismissals; there will be no remote learning days.
